About the Role

The Guest Service Agent is the face of our hotels, responsible for exceeding guest needs and providing a welcoming environment. This role offers a competitive compensation package, flexible scheduling, and opportunities for personal development and career growth within Sandman Hotel Group.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a warm, welcoming, and friendly environment.
  • Check guests in and out of the Hotel.
  • Assist with luggage.
  • Issue room keys, pamphlets, and discount cards.
  • Answer guest questions and arrange transportation.
  • Respond to telephone, email, and in-person inquiries.
  • Book telephone reservations.
  • Compute bills and collect payments.
  • Count and verify cash, shift activity, keys, gift certificates, and wireless internet cards.
  • Print updated reports every two hours.
  • Check all unresolved departures.
  • Ensure the front desk is stocked with guest necessities.
  • Record and enter wake-up call requests.
  • Complete welcome calls.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy front desk area.
  • Refer inquiries to the appropriate individuals or departments.
  • Present a positive and professional image of the organization.
  • Provide information about special activities to staff and/or clients.
  • Observe and report security issues to the Manager.

Requirements

  • Completion of a two-year apprenticeship program in front desk operations or hotel management preferred.
  • 1 year of experience as a Hotel Front Desk Clerk preferred.
  • Experience in all aspects of customer service and people management.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting practices and principles.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret client needs and offer appropriate solutions.
  • Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation, and objection handling skills.
  • Able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
  • High level of proficiency in Opera/Opera Cloud.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
