About the Role
The Activity Aide plays a pivotal role in enriching the lives of residents by assisting with the facilitation of different activities, bringing joy and fun to residents and brightening their day.
Responsibilities
- Plan, implement and evaluate individual and group activation programs based on assessed needs and as assigned by the Supervisor.
- Set up and clean activity areas and transport residents to and from programs.
- Monitor resident behavior and condition during programs and report significant changes to the Supervisor and nursing staff.
- Maintain program and resident records according to department policy.
- Communicate resident participation to registered staff.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to meet resident needs.
Requirements
- A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of the start date.
- Completion of a TB Skin test.
- Must provide notice of accommodation needs for the recruitment process to the hiring manager upon scheduling of an interview.
Skills
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent documentation skills.
- Knowledge and demonstrated experience in one-on-one/group program planning, implementation and evaluation for both well and cognitively impaired individuals.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to manage time effectively.
- Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate new ideas, resident programs, and volunteer initiatives.
- Knowledge and/or experience in working with the geriatric population, especially those with cognitive impairments.

Education Level
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology or other related field from a community college or university or enrolled in same.
- If enrolled, must complete program within 3 years of hire date.
Salary/Compensations
- $22.25/hour
