About the Role
Discord plays a uniquely important role in the future of gaming. We are focused on making it easier and more fun for people to talk and hang out before, during, and after playing games. The Game Records team is responsible for systems that drive detection and safeguard metadata for hundreds of thousands of games, consulting on major features, partnerships, and game-related launches.
Responsibilities
- Engage with developers, game studios, and partners to identify opportunities and address challenges for a richer player experience.
- Partner with internal teams to design, build, and maintain features that connect users through gaming on desktop and mobile.
- Expand and safeguard the collection of games and game metadata to support platform gaming features.
- Partner with Content, Marketing, and ML teams to enhance ranking and discovery systems.
- Collaborate with Engineers, Designers, Product Owners, and Data Scientists to build engaging and trusted experiences.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience as a fullstack software engineer.
- Experience with React/TS, Python, or other modern programming languages.
- Comfortable switching between and learning new technical stacks.
- Enjoy collaborating with product, design, and other stakeholders.
- Ability to express opinions and stay aligned within a collaborative environment.
- Holistic approach to problem-solving, addressing issues from first principles.
- Experience leading projects, gathering requirements, supporting partners, and mentoring others.
- Belief in 'lead by example' regarding ownership, autonomy, quality, and impact.
- Track record of shipping incremental features that improve user experience.
- Is a Discord user and wants to make the product better.
