About the Role
Aird & Berlis LLP is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join their Litigation and Dispute Resolution Group. This role will provide support to multiple lawyers and is ideal for a candidate with strong administrative litigation experience and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation, service, and filing of litigation materials before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Federal Courts.
- Prepare and manage electronic hearing materials using Case Centre.
- Manage and prioritize multiple active litigation files in a fast-paced environment.
- Prepare, edit, and complete necessary correspondence and documentation.
- Handle administrative details related to accounting, opening/closing files, docketing, and billing.
- Communicate professionally with internal and external clients.
- Manage accounting duties.
- Manage calendar.
- Take initiative.
Requirements
- Minimum of three years' previous experience as a Legal Assistant in Litigation.
- Successful completion of a related post-secondary Legal Assistant or Law Clerk program.
- Excellent knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure.
- Handle time pressure situations and stress of multiple demands.
