About the Role

The purpose of this job is to perform a wide variety of maintenance tasks including electrical and mechanical maintenance work such as installation, fabrication, assembly, set up, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of plant equipment, services, and facilities. This role requires the use of hand and maintenance tools and skills, working from blueprints, sketches, written, and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Performs work on energized lines, circuits, and connections with voltages up to 12,500V.
  • Operates a variety of equipment including saws, pipe threaders, drills, gauges, meters, voltmeters, o-scopes, micrometers, industrial fork trucks, welding equipment, carts, ladders, and lifts.
  • Provides cross-training for other skills.
  • May be a member of a team utilizing business skills such as writing, entering work orders, time distribution, quotes, estimates, and computer use.
  • Performs work requiring effort equivalent to handling 16-50 lbs., works overhead in tiring awkward positions, runs conduit, and performs benchwork repairing instruments and motors.
  • Aligns belts and erects partitions.
  • Repairs machinery involving heavy component parts.
  • Performs visual inspection for repairs on instruments, circuits on boards, and calibrating.
  • Troubleshoots, fabricates, assembles, and installs electronic equipment, instruments, and gages.
  • Reads blueprints and views set-ups on high-speed machines.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of a wide variety of materials, applications, processes, facilities, and equipment.
  • Possesses knowledge of all phases of electrical and electronics.
  • Applies knowledge of higher math computations and interpretation of blueprints, diagrams, and manuals.
  • Maintains sustained attention to prevent losses of materials or process control.
  • Works with switch gear or relay boxes, lengths of pipes, various metals, and woods.
  • Works in environments with intermittent to continuous exposure to heat, noise, glare, fumes, burners, and machines.

Requirements

  • Must successfully pass the Hands On Trades Skills Assessment.
  • Holds a GED or High School diploma.
  • Experience in a 24/7 union manufacturing environment is desirable.
  • Experience with vendor management and capital project finances.
  • Highly organized and capable of operating in a demanding environment.
  • Requires strong leadership skills while working with peers at all levels.
  • Must be highly motivated and results oriented.
  • Ability to be a change agent in a fast-paced organization.
  • Must be results focused with a commitment and desire to make an impact.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts.
  • Union experience highly desired.
