About the Role
Dow Jones is seeking an Audience Development Manager to grow the reach, engagement, and subscription impact of its media properties. The role involves identifying audience demand, translating it into growth opportunities, and collaborating with Product and Newsroom teams to achieve measurable business outcomes. Success is defined by growing qualified audiences, deepening engagement, and linking audience development to registrations, subscriptions, and long-term customer value.
Responsibilities
- Drive audience development and subscription growth across video, audio, social, LLM surfaces, app stores, and search.
- Identify platform strategies to expand reach, build engagement, and create pathways to registration and subscription.
- Oversee key growth partnerships, including SEO consulting support.
- Translate audience reach into subscription outcomes by connecting initiatives to registration, newsletter signup, engagement, and conversion.
- Partner with Product, Newsroom, and Acquisition teams to execute audience growth initiatives.
- Define and track KPIs for audience development initiatives and provide regular reporting.
- Help maintain shared roadmaps and coordinate workstreams to ensure audience goals are actionable.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in audience development, digital marketing, or a related role within the media or publishing industry.
- Proven track record of driving audience growth and engagement through strategic initiatives and partnerships.
- Strong understanding of digital marketing principles, content distribution strategies, and audience segmentation.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and derive actionable insights.
- Experience working with cross-functional teams, including Product and Newsroom.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and stakeholders concurrently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of the media landscape, including emerging trends and platforms, is highly desirable.
- Passion for journalism, news, and staying informed about current events.
