About the Role
This role is for a Household Manager & Family Assistant who will serve as the central point of coordination for a busy Brooklyn family. The ideal candidate will take full responsibility for behind-the-scenes logistics, administrative details, and daily execution to ensure the family runs effortlessly. This position requires someone who naturally assumes ownership, solves problems proactively, and is invested in the family's well-being.
Responsibilities
- Creating and maintaining household organization systems
- Daily kitchen tidying and maintenance
- Preparing the home for weekly cleaners
- Managing seasonal clothing swaps and donation drop-offs
- Providing pre-travel household prep and post-travel unpacking support
- Indoor plant care
- Managing trash, compost, and recycling schedules
- Performing routine upkeep tasks
- Managing household inventory, including pantry, fridge, and supplies
- Maintaining running supply lists and household subscriptions
- Handling returns, dry cleaning drop-offs, and gift shopping
- Managing mail and packages
- Providing afternoon school pickup and transportation to extracurricular activities
- Offering occasional light supervision and back-up childcare
- Transporting children to and from appointments
- Managing the children's calendar and proactively flagging schedule changes
- Providing occasional evening coverage
- Assisting with collaborative packing and unpacking for travel
- Handling kid-related errands
- Overseeing weekly cleaners and coordinating home readiness
- Researching and coordinating vendors, repairs, and quotes
- Managing the household calendar, including school and activity logistics
- Coordinating travel plans, including flight research and itinerary planning
- Researching and coordinating seasonal camps and activities
- Coordinating children's appointments
- Liaising with parents' professional EA on scheduling and logistics
- Performing occasional research tasks and administrative support
- Washing, folding, and organizing household laundry
- Supporting linen rotation and maintaining a tidy laundry area
- Collaborating on grocery shopping and meal planning
- Preparing supplemental meals and snacks
- Coordinating with the part-time chef on meal planning and kitchen flow
- Performing occasional deep cleans of kitchen appliances and areas
- Organizing seasonal items and storage areas
- Refreshing entryway and utility spaces
Requirements
- Maintain a smoke-free environment
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Comfortable navigating Brooklyn and Manhattan
- Up to date on recommended vaccinations
- CPR and First Aid certification or willingness to obtain
