About the Role

Works under the direct supervision of a RN and/or LPN and a licensed physician performing work-related duties as required. Responsible for completion of specific duties of clinical and clerical functions within the medical office.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules appointments, answers incoming phone calls, and consults with physician and/or extenders regarding phone messages.
  • Greets patients and checks the waiting area for arrivals.
  • Prepares patients for exams providing a comfortable environment.
  • Checks on patients while waiting in exam rooms, records BP, TPR, height and weight, and documents patient care and phone messages in the medical record as necessary.
  • Requisitions ancillary services.
  • Cleans, stocks, and maintains exam rooms; maintains equipment and reports faulty equipment.
  • May need to work other medical offices as assigned, and works in other physician’s offices as needed.
  • Changes office schedule if needed.
  • Provides assistance or performs other duties as required and directed by Clinical Management.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all patient information.
  • Maintains good public relations with other departments, MD’s, patients, and families, demonstrating customer service skills.
  • Assists physicians with procedures within the office for which specific training has been given, with the exception of procedures involving the delivery of medications.
  • Attends OSHA training upon initial employee orientation and annually completes an OSHA competency.
  • Places and pending orders except medication orders as per Epic training.
  • May be exposed to hazardous drugs.

Requirements

  • Graduated from high school or completed GED requirements.
  • Preferably 1 year experience in health care.
  • BLS certificate required.
  • Requires sitting, standing, bending, and reaching.
  • May require lifting up to 50 pounds using proper body mechanics.
  • Requires manual dexterity to operate standard office equipment such as computer, fax, and telephone.
  • Requires hearing and vision that is adequate to perform job duties.
