About the Role

The Field Service department is looking for a highly motivated and talented technician to provide quality service and repair of complex MX-Series airborne surveillance turrets. This position requires a self-motivated, creative, forward-thinking, and energetic individual with excellent communication, relationship building, and problem-solving skills. The ability to interface well with demanding customers as well as co-workers is critical. The best MX Field Technicians are strong team players and customer focused, working well independently and making difficult decisions that will affect the performance and availability of mission critical systems. The FSR may also be required to deploy internationally to work assignments overseas at remote locations around the world, including hazardous conflict regions.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, Test and Maintain Wescam MX-Series sensor systems in accordance with pre-established processes, while adhering to customer deadlines.
  • Troubleshoot, repair and test a failed system, including understanding and troubleshooting problems related to product aircraft integration of the MX product line.
  • Perform Preventative Maintenance on MX turrets.
  • Become proficient in troubleshooting, repair and servicing of Wescam MX sensor systems within 90 days.
  • Apply knowledge of troubleshooting electronics and mechanical systems.
  • Provide customer service.
  • Support various U.S. Homeland Security, Law Enforcement, and DOD Military customers by repairing mission critical Wescam sensor systems.
  • Act as a resource to other employees in areas of expertise.
  • Complete all necessary service and repair documentation as well as technical trip reports.
  • Provide Wescam Training to customers on MX operations and operator-level maintenance procedures.

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/Associates Degree with a minimum of 3 years of prior related experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience with electronic and mechanical test equipment.
  • Minimum of 4 years experience troubleshooting and repairing problems related to product aircraft integration, electronics and mechanical systems, down to the line replaceable unit level.
  • Must be available to provide occasional off hour or weekend tasks in support of the customer requirements.
  • Willingness & ability to support assignments at OCONUS sites for short-term deployment periods is required.
  • Must be willing and physically able to work outdoors in environmental conditions with temperatures in excess of 120 degrees.
  • 4 years experience with MS Office applications including Word and Excel is required as well as with specialized software test programs.
  • 4 years experience communicating clearly (written and verbal) with technical and non-technical customers (internal/external).
  • Previous work experience with aircraft, tower, or aerostat-based MX sensor systems is highly desired.
  • Previous experience communicating with contacts, within and outside the department, on matters that involve obtaining or providing information requiring explanation or interpretation to reach an understanding/agreement.
  • Previous success working under limited supervision or autonomously.
  • Previous experience successfully prioritizing and managing multiple projects at one time.
  • Proven, acute attention to detail & excellent organizational skills.

Experience Level

  • Minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience (with High School Diploma or equivalent)

  • At least 5 years experience as an electro-mechanical technician on products that are similar in complexity
  • Minimum of 4 years experience with electronic and mechanical test equipment
  • Minimum of 4 years experience troubleshooting and repairing problems related to product aircraft integration, electronics and mechanical systems
  • Minimum of 4 years prior FSR experience in both CONUS and OCONUS repair assignments and tasks
  • 4 years experience with MS Office applications
  • 4 years experience communicating clearly (written and verbal) with technical and non-technical customers
  • Previous work experience with aircraft, tower, or aerostat-based MX sensor systems
  • Previous experience communicating with contacts, within and outside the department
