About the Role

We are seeking a lead engineer to build an analytics platform used across Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN. This platform enables users to understand business data, increasingly through natural language and AI agents. You will lead major projects, set technical direction, and collaborate with product, design, and data partners to create robust systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver agentic analytics experiences, including natural-language and AI-assisted dashboard authoring, agent-accessible surfaces, and AI-generated insights with human-in-the-loop review.
  • Build foundational components for agentic analytics, such as semantic, machine-readable metric representations and surfaces for agent interaction.
  • Develop evaluation and guardrail systems to ensure the trustworthiness of AI output.
  • Lead projects end-to-end, partnering with product, design, and data teams to define scope and technical specifications.
  • Own and document high-leverage architectural decisions for projects, including rendering, data fetching, caching, state, service boundaries, and API contracts.
  • Guide other engineers in the implementation of architectural decisions.
  • Build the full technology stack, including a responsive React front end, Node.js (and Python or Java) services, and APIs and data-integration layers.
  • Evolve a configuration and schema-driven system for shipping new dashboards and metrics through configuration and CI validation.
  • Engineer for dashboard-shaped traffic across client and server, optimizing data fetching, caching, request batching, and rendering for fast load times and scalability.
  • Write, maintain, and enforce code quality through testing, code review, observability, and accessible, resilient UI.
  • Ensure work is seen through from specification to production and ongoing operation.
  • Mentor engineers at all levels, including senior engineers, through code review, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
  • Build trust, set goals, and provide constructive feedback to engineers.
  • Drive the evolution of team practices and standards, including agentic engineering workflows.
  • Build cross-team consensus for technical direction.

Requirements

  • 7+ years building highly scalable, performant full-stack web applications serving millions of users and requests.
  • Regularly practice agentic software development, utilizing AI coding agents and agent-driven workflows to enhance team effectiveness.
  • Proven track record of delivering agentic analytics solutions in production, such as analytics or data products built on LLMs or agents.
  • Expert-level command of React, TypeScript, and JavaScript, with strong Node.js skills.
  • Comfortable working across the full stack, from UI through back-end services and APIs.
  • Proven track record architecting sophisticated technical changes and driving cross-team consensus.
  • Experience defining and implementing API specifications in collaboration with service and back-end teams.
  • Strong performance-engineering fundamentals for data-heavy or high-traffic systems.
  • Track record of owning projects end-to-end and driving complex problems to root cause and resolution.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and grow engineers, including senior engineers, by building trust and giving clear feedback.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software or Electrical Engineering, a comparable field, and/or equivalent work experience.
