About the Role

Support the News Editor in daily news gathering and writing, commissioning and editing news two days per week. Take responsibility for a steady flow of exclusive clinical and policy news, analyses, and opinion articles, and host podcast episodes according to the publishing schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the News & Views Editor in sourcing, selecting, writing, commissioning, and editing news stories, ensuring accuracy, legal soundness, and timely publication.
  • Ensure a regular stream of exclusive news on clinical and policy topics.
  • Research and write longer analyses on news topics and conduct interviews as needed.
  • Develop contacts within the pharmacy and health sector and stay updated on developments.
  • Assist the Art Editor with selecting pictures and illustrations for news content.

Requirements

  • Journalist with at least two years of experience breaking exclusive news stories, preferably in the health/scientific sector.
  • Strong news sense and interest in clinical topics.
  • Strong interest in multimedia journalism.
  • Experience writing long-form analysis pieces.
  • Proven writing ability.
  • Undergraduate degree, preferably in science, pharmacy, or medicine.
