About the Role

Hearst Canvas is seeking a creative Video Editor to contribute to new social channels and launches. This role is crucial for content creation, planning, and delivery, involving the editing of full episodes and talent rushes into engaging video content optimized for viewer retention and sharing. The editor will manage the entire process from raw footage to polished episodes, ensuring compelling pacing, storytelling, and visual appeal across multiple platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Create and edit short-form video content for social platforms, optimized for performance and engagement.
  • Identify strong moments and narrative beats to create exciting and visually compelling videos.
  • Understand social media trends and how factual content performs across platforms.
  • Collaborate with Producers and Talent to manage edit workflows.
  • Organize media, timelines, and project files, and sync multi-camera footage.
  • Perform color correction, audio balancing, captioning, and graphics for a professional finish.
  • Maintain consistent branding, tone, and visual style.
  • Establish and uphold an efficient editing workflow.
  • Deliver clean exports in required social-first formats.

Requirements

  • Proven experience editing video content for social platforms.
  • Advanced proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Solid understanding of storytelling, pacing, and viewer retention.
  • Experience editing multi-camera setups.
  • Confident working with both audio and video.
  • Familiarity with social-first content formats and trends.
  • Ability to incorporate feedback and amend edits promptly.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Understanding of major social media platforms and their best practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Experience editing complex stories and sensitive subject matter.
  • A proactive mindset and willingness to learn and develop.
