About the Role

The General Manager I (GM) position is responsible for managing a QSR restaurant or small cluster of restaurants with sales up to $5M. The GM ensures the restaurant operates to high operational and financial standards, using broad discretion and judgment to make leadership decisions for the overall success of the restaurant.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures all assistant managers and staff recognize the importance of closing the restaurant to prepare for opening.
  • Deploys staff and resources to maximize profitability and accepts P&L responsibility.
  • Assigns work tasks, prepares schedules, and ensures all shifts are covered.
  • Provides restaurant staff with consistent support, coaching, and encouragement.
  • Interviews job candidates and makes hiring, termination, advancement, and promotion decisions.
  • Ensures company and branch diversity and inclusion philosophy is understood and executed.
  • Manages on-boarding and off-boarding of all restaurant associates, including badging, orientation, and training.
  • Monitors progress towards unit goals using financial and operational data and assigns associates to meet objectives.
  • Recognizes restaurant staff for contributions and performance and develops plans to motivate the team.
  • Ensures the company has the most current contact information for all associates.
  • Ensures daily orders are prepared and units are stocked with appropriate product levels.
  • Oversees receiving goods, processing invoices, and contacting vendors for supply chain issues.
  • Maintains proficiency in management information systems and tools.
  • Monitors and maintains restaurant equipment, scheduling service or repairs as needed.
  • Participates and manages company response to NSF and other audits.
  • Minimizes waste and participates in the food donation program.
  • Assesses skill levels of restaurant associates and conducts training activities.
  • Embraces technology and inspires employees to understand and adopt new technologies.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all applicable brand standards, CBAs, Landlord lease agreements, and procedures.
  • Develops and implements creative strategies to increase revenue.
  • Manages the day-to-day activities of associates within a defined restaurant or group of restaurants.
  • Uses judgment and discretion to resolve customer and associate issues.
  • Utilizes associate strengths and provides ongoing feedback on development and business goals.
  • Implements marketing programs, complies with promotional activity, and drives revenue.
  • Maintains an in-depth understanding of all federal, state, and local sanitary, safety, and health standards.
  • Holds Managers accountable for ensuring all safety standards are understood and followed.
  • Trains new managers and associates in wellness check protocols and COVID-19 requirements.
  • Understands and performs all Health and Safety activities as specified in the Manager’s Guide to Associate Health and Safety.

Requirements

  • Documented and demonstrated skills managing QSR, Casual Dine, Full Service, or similar complexity restaurants.
  • Overall responsibility for restaurant success and failure, identified by P&L success for multiple annual cycles.
  • Minimum of 3 years of restaurant P&L management experience.
  • 5-7 years of overall working restaurant experience in the assigned type.
  • Demonstrates team management, delegation, and issue resolution skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple and concurrent priorities.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of HMSHost policies and products, service, quality, equipment, and operations standards, or ability to demonstrate this knowledge within a reasonable time.
  • Ability to speak, read, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and policy documents.
  • Ability to understand menus and brand standards.
  • Ability to converse comfortably with individuals.

Salary/Compensations

  • $62,354.00 to $66,341.00
