About the Role
This Senior Energy Advisor Specialist role is a hybrid position responsible for engaging National Accounts and trade allies across New York jurisdictions to drive energy efficiency and related initiatives. The role will work closely with customers, trade allies, and contractors to generate interest in and deliver National Grid programs, including Electrification, Weatherization, Heat Pumps, Energy Efficiency, EV Charging, and other offerings. The Specialist will serve as a trusted advisor, build strong relationships, ensure awareness of programs, and enable a positive end-to-end customer experience.
Responsibilities
- Develop short- and long-term outreach and partner collaboration plans to effectively execute the delivery strategy and support the achievement of program goals.
- Generate sales opportunities and appointments with National Account customers to achieve assigned targets.
- Follow up on leads and develop effective relationships with current and prospective trade allies, contractors, and customers to explain and promote National Grid energy programs and services.
- Manage day-to-day relationships with customers, trade allies, industry contacts, and fellow specialists to understand and deliver appropriate solutions.
- Work effectively within a deal team to assist National Grid in the achievement of sales goals and other initiatives.
- Develop and maintain a technical understanding of energy efficiency services and measures that apply to programs, technologies, and properties.
- Research primary data sources and analyze trends to support defining the approach and performance targets for the market.
- Gather required information and analyze energy-efficiency savings data using established tools, methods, and formats.
- Conduct quality control, review technical documentation and blueprints, apply product knowledge, and use savings and inspection tools.
- Operate both independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment, coordinating project implementation, managing documentation, and supporting data analysis and performance reporting.
- Proactively seek ways to improve programs by soliciting customer and stakeholder feedback, researching/implementing best practices, exploring ways to streamline processes, and developing communication materials.
- Support a variety of internal stakeholders, such as regulatory, system information services, strategy, and program evaluation, sales, procurement, legal, and corporate communications.
- Utilize established sales tracking systems to track customer communications, application enters, project stages, and savings.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in sales, account development, or client outreach role.
- Possesses a general understanding of energy, utility, and/or efficiency industry.
- Experience in using Salesforce (CRM software) preferred.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to apply consultation procedures and negotiation skills using visual aids, data, or information to support line of reasoning.
- Experience of fact-finding including knowledge and understanding of where to find and how to present relevant information.
- Demonstrates initiative and resourcefulness and can investigate the situation beyond routine questioning.
- Strong collaboration, consultation, and negotiation skills.
- Superior organization skills.
- Successful experience developing and implementing outreach strategies are required.
- Self-starter, an ability to work both independently and as part of a highly dynamic collaborative team.
- Ability to adapt and tailor approach to wide variety of audiences and customers.
- Demonstrates strong communication, problem-solving, and customer service skills, with close attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities and perform effectively under pressure.
- Required travel 30% to 50% of the time to various customer locations including office, power plants, and other sites.
- Ability to perform light physical activities.
- Valid driver’s license is required with a safe driving history that meets National Grid’s Safe Driver policy.
- Must have the ability to work without a need for current or future visa sponsorship.

- $91,000 - $106,000 Albany or Syracuse NY a year
- $109,000 - $128,000 Brooklyn or Hicksville NY a year
