About the Role

The Manager, Technology Transfer and Intellectual Property will lead technology transfer, licensing, and intellectual property efforts for NYSDOH innovations. This role involves collaborating with researchers, leadership, and industry partners to evaluate inventions, manage IP portfolios, negotiate agreements, and support commercialization to translate scientific discoveries into public health impact.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technology transfer, licensing, and intellectual property efforts for NYSDOH innovations.
  • Collaborate with researchers, institutional leadership, industry partners, and outside counsel to evaluate inventions.
  • Manage intellectual property portfolios.
  • Negotiate research and licensing agreements.
  • Support commercialization initiatives and cultivate strategic partnerships.
  • Provide guidance on federal regulations, sponsor requirements, technology transfer best practices, and research agreements.
  • Promote compliance and mitigate organizational risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in law, life sciences, engineering, business, public administration or a related field and six years of experience in technology transfer, research administration, sponsored programs, industry-sponsored research, research contracting, or related activities.
  • Associate's degree in a related field and eight years of relevant experience.
  • Ten years of relevant experience.
  • Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S.
  • Must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the work location.
  • Must reside in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts prior to hire.
  • Travel up to 10% of the time.

  • $124,330 - $164,230 annually
  • $4,000 annual downstate adjustment for specific counties
