About the Role
This position supports PMPL Claims in the timely assignment of all new claims handled by the Personal Lines, Marine, Transportation and Property teams. The role is responsible for triaging and distributing new claims to the appropriate manager and/or specialists within the PMPL claims division, identifying catastrophic claims, reviewing provided facts, and evaluating policy coverage and damage severity.
Responsibilities
- Complete assigned daily claims support activities timely and accurately, including triaging, assigning, and routing of new claims.
- Maintain understanding of departmental service standards, guidelines, processes, and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiencies and minimize processing and workflow issues, sharing findings with the team and management.
- Effectively work in a team environment, participating in projects and testing initiatives.
- Display flexibility to support evolving department and business needs.
- Promptly communicate with PMPL Segmentation/Triage Manager on claim trend developments and pertinent issues.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of Insurance claims experience in Property, Transportation, Marine, or Liability.
- Comfortable with high volume workloads, multiple priorities, and productivity standards.
- Flexibility to work outside normal business hours, including holidays and weekends when necessary.
- Strong PC skills, especially in Word, Excel, Outlook and paperless working environment.
- Ability to learn multiple claim systems; working knowledge of Markel’s claim systems is a plus.
- Strong skills in verbal and written communication, analysis and problem solving, organization and time management.
- Ability to analyze insurance policy to determine available coverage for proper claim routing.
- Ability to evaluate summarized information to determine policy coverage, liability involvement, and severity of damage for proper claim routing.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Self-directed and highly productive with minimal supervision.
- Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- US Work Authorization required.

Salary/Compensations
- The national average hourly range for the Associate Claims Analyst is $25.11/hr- $34.52/hr with 10% incentive.
