About the Role
The Assistant Deli Department Manager supports the Deli Manager in overseeing all Deli Department functions and personnel to achieve sales and profit goals. This role ensures that employee work shifts contribute to the store's financial success and involves filling in for the Deli Manager when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Follow all Federal, State, and Local regulations as well as company policies regarding Deli operations, safety, and sanitation
- Support the achievement of financial goals such as sales and gross profit maximization, as well as minimization of shrink and supply expense
- Take customer orders accurately for prepared foods and other specialty Deli products
- Assist in weekly orders in accordance with store policy to ensure adequate supply levels
- Adhere to company policy through proper processing, preparation, and packaging of product
- Maintain and enforce a clean work environment to ensure sanitary conditions
- Support the necessary paperwork relating to Deli Department
- Participate in the selection, training, development, and scheduling of Deli associates
- Perform tasks as assigned by the Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager
Requirements
- 2-5 years of grocery store retail experience
- Basic computer skills
- Ability to read, write and perform basic math functions
- Assist in the direction of subordinates in implementing plan of action and goal attainment
- Promote sales through courteous customer service
- Safe operation of deli equipment
