About the Role
As a Field Service Specialist, you will be responsible for managing demand, contract and after sales project service for our customers. You will work on the front lines of development, shaping the field as you go, within our industry leading team of automation professionals.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance of automation equipment and hardware at customer locations, particularly on QCS (Scanner), Profilers, and Controls systems.
- Assist other service personnel as needed to resolve difficult service-related issues.
- Demonstrate and document the value provided to the customer based on the services performed.
- Perform field commissioning on automation equipment.
- Provide service and performance documentation for capital equipment, including new and add-on system installations.
- Implement new and add-on systems (hardware and software) when required.
- Assist customers in problem-solving at their worksites and by phone.
- Understand the customer's pulp and paper process and how the automation equipment interacts with it.
- Provide sales support for service when needed.
- Actively sell and promote spare parts and component upgrades at the customer’s worksite.
- Inform the service manager and North American product managers of any product-related issues.
- Prepare written trip reports, expense reports, and timesheets within two weeks of each mill visit.
- Clearly document the value provided during each visit.
- Routinely contact customers to schedule visits, determine the status of installed equipment, and assist in repairing any failed equipment.
- Ensure sales personnel and the Service Manager are aware of the schedule.
- Visit customers routinely to improve and maintain customer relationships.
- Provide after-hours emergency service when needed.
- Perform other duties typical to this position as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in a science discipline or two years of electronics/instrumentation training.
- Alternatively, three to four years of technical school training in electronics, electromechanical, or instrumentation.
- Minimum of five years of experience with QCS/profilers and controls environments.
- Experience in the pulp and paper industry is a plus.
- Must maintain a valid driver’s license.
- Must work well independently, making decisions often under stressful conditions.
- Must have the ability to form professional relationships with customers.
- Written and verbal communication skills are critical.
- Self-managed and able to set own daily and weekly priorities with customers.
