About the Role

This role is for a House Manager and Family Assistant to support a warm, active, and light-hearted household in San Francisco. The family travels frequently and entertains regularly, especially at their Napa property. With young children and a parent launching a new business, the family needs a reliable individual to help manage household tasks, support children, and assist with various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Perform school pickups and provide light supervision and backup childcare on school off-days.
  • Run general kid-related errands as needed.
  • Create and maintain household organization systems.
  • Perform daily resets of common areas, including tidying shoes, toys, and surfaces.
  • Conduct light tidying, including dishes, vacuuming high-traffic areas, and surface maintenance.
  • Manage seasonal swaps, including holiday décor and bedding rotations.
  • Coordinate and prepare donation drop-offs.
  • Support event, holiday, and guest preparation in coordination with the housekeeper.
  • Provide post-travel unpacking and cleanup support.
  • Perform indoor plant care.
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors as needed.
  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies.
  • Proactively order supplies via Instacart when stock is low.
  • Manage returns from online orders.
  • Coordinate dry cleaning drop-off and pickup.
  • Handle mail and package management.
  • Break down and recycle boxes.
  • Prepare healthy, balanced meals and snacks 3-4 times per week, following a Mediterranean-style approach.
  • Batch prep staples such as fruits, vegetables, proteins, and rice.
  • Support larger batch cooking during hosting events.
  • Perform grocery shopping and kitchen clean-up and maintenance.
  • Manage ironing and steaming, including dress shirts.
  • Handle linen rotation and coordination with the housekeeper.
  • Coordinate dry cleaning drop-off and pickup.
  • Address minor clothing needs, such as arranging for alterations or button repairs.
  • Coordinate specialists for deep cleaning needs (e.g., rugs, specialty surfaces).
  • Refresh and create systems in the garage, mudroom, and entry areas.
  • Perform annual cleaning of humidifiers and air purifiers.
  • Undertake organizational projects, including playroom toy rotation, baby gear sorting, clothing donations, and photo framing.
  • Oversee and coordinate with cleaners, contractors, and landscapers.
  • Research and obtain quotes for repairs and specialty services.
  • Maintain a running list for landscaping and seasonal property maintenance.
  • Organize the interior of the Napa property, including linens, baby gear, and general storage.
  • Create functional storage and systems at the Napa property.
  • Provide ad hoc support during family stays at the Napa property.
  • Prep for and support hosting parties at the Napa estate.

Requirements

  • Must have a reliable personal vehicle and a valid driver's license.
  • Must be dog-friendly.
  • Candidates must be up to date on recommended vaccinations (including general adult vaccinations, COVID-19, and influenza), subject to applicable legal accommodations.
  • Willingness to obtain CPR and First Aid certification is required.
  • Must possess an active passport and be willing to travel with the family.
  • Must maintain a smoke-free and fragrance-free environment.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.
  • Experience with toddlers is important.
  • Requires a background check.
