About the Role

The Portfolio Lead is responsible for establishing and managing an enterprise-wide portfolio management capability within Pacific Life Re’s Business Change function. This role enables senior leadership to make data-driven, strategically aligned investment decisions by overseeing the project portfolio pipeline, governance, and resource prioritization.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted advisor to divisional leadership and senior stakeholders
  • Drive alignment across competing priorities between Lines of Business, Divisional Business Services, and Technology
  • Build relationships across Change, Finance, Strategy, Risk, and Technology functions
  • Provide clear, concise updates to leadership teams
  • Implement integrated planning processes across strategy, budgets, and delivery
  • Challenge and shape demand to ensure alignment with business priorities
  • Manage the intake, assessment, and prioritization of change demand
  • Translate business strategy into a coherent and prioritized change pipeline
  • Establish portfolio taxonomy, definitions, and lifecycle frameworks
  • Support investment planning, business case development, and funding decisions
  • Align portfolio processes with Finance, Strategy, Technology, and Risk
  • Create and maintain a single integrated view of the change portfolio
  • Redefine governance frameworks for prioritizing, sequencing, and pausing initiatives
  • Strengthen governance to ensure transparency, auditability, and strategic alignment
  • Ensure visibility of delivery status, risks, issues, and interdependencies
  • Deliver forward-looking portfolio insights regarding health, performance, and resource constraints
  • Drive consistency in delivery standards, methodologies, and documentation
  • Upskill the Business Change function and business areas in portfolio disciplines
  • Embed consistent standards, tools, and ways of working
  • Drive continuous improvement within the Change function

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in portfolio, transformation, or change leadership
  • Experience within Insurance or Financial Services sectors
  • Proven track record of establishing or maturing Portfolio or Transformation Offices
  • Expertise in portfolio management frameworks such as MoP, P3O, or enterprise PMO models
  • Experience in investment prioritization and business case evaluation
  • Proficiency in portfolio analytics, reporting, and tools like Planview, Clarity, or Power BI
  • Strong understanding of delivery methodologies including Agile, Waterfall, and Hybrid
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills at the Executive Committee level
  • Ability to facilitate difficult trade-off decisions
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to translate analysis into actionable insight
  • Strong commercial awareness and value focus
