About the Role

Provide front-line operational support to the Fixed Income Investment Group across active and index strategies, and support Investment Data Management. This role is critical for daily operational support to Portfolio Managers and the management of Investment Index Data.

Responsibilities

• Provide critical daily operational support to Fixed Income Portfolio Managers and management of Investment Index Data.
• Maintain the FI Investment Book of Records (IBOR), including start-of-day and end-of-day checks, liquidity, and cashflows.
• Monitor trading activity and manage counterparties.
• Provide insights to the Investments Team.
• Develop a deep understanding of the end-to-end fixed income investment process.
• Respond to Investment process queries and concerns quickly with valuable insights and explanation.
• Engage wider EIS (Middle and Back Office) teams to collate information or actions required by Desk.
• Build strong interpersonal relationships, especially with the Settlements Team to minimize failed trades.
• Monitor and understand portfolio movements to provide value-adding insights, especially liquidity, duration, and general trading activity.
• Support the management of Investment and Index Data.
• Monitor market/world events and consider their impact on the Investing process.
• Work with Investment Risk and Operational Risk Teams to improve controls and the control environment.
• Identify, recommend, and drive solutions and process improvements, such as automations, new coding, and technological suggestions.
• Familiarize with the Vanguard Management System for continuous improvement.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Firm knowledge of fixed income markets, derivatives, and trading strategies.
• Experience with Aladdin.
• Practical experience in an Operations environment.
• Experience detecting and responding to operational incidents.
• Experience with project management.
• Experience managing stakeholders with appropriate escalations.
• Strong understanding of the investments lifecycle.
• Confident and motivated to interact with portfolio managers.
• Comfortable identifying creative solutions to trading/operational challenges.
• Ability to support testing.
