About the Role
This role offers an exciting opportunity to join Newmark’s specialist Minerals team, providing valuation and consultancy advice to clients in the minerals and waste sectors. You will gain insight into the vital role minerals play in the UK's economy and sustainable development, working alongside experienced surveyors on live client instructions.
Responsibilities
- Support Chartered Surveyors in delivering specialist valuation and consultancy advice to clients across the minerals and waste sectors.
- Assist with valuations of a wide range of mineral and waste assets for management accounting, lending, taxation and other professional purposes.
- Undertake site inspections and data gathering, including measuring, referencing and analysing property and operational information to support client instructions.
- Assist with business rates assessments and other property tax-related matters.
- Develop negotiation and communication skills through exposure to business rates, lease consultancy, compensation and acquisition/disposal projects.
- Build technical expertise and market knowledge through on-the-job learning, while working towards the core competencies required for RICS qualification.
- Work closely with experienced surveyors on live client assignments, gaining exposure to a diverse range of assets, clients and projects across the UK.
Requirements
- An interest in geology, geography, environmental science or the built environment is beneficial, but not essential.
- A willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK.
- Strong numeracy, research and analytical skills, with an ability to interpret data and draw well-reasoned conclusions.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- A proactive and enthusiastic approach, with a desire to build technical knowledge and develop professional expertise within a specialist sector.
- A full UK driving licence is helpful.
- A background understanding of AI applications and digital technologies would be beneficial, although not essential.
- A strong team player who enjoys collaborating with colleagues, sharing knowledge and contributing to a supportive and high-performing team environment.
