About the Role
Our People (HR) Business Partners support business functions with all people-related matters in a consistent approach aligned with our values. They are passionate about creating a great employee experience, acting as the face of the People Team for our Energists and leaders, and providing approachable, clear, and honest support throughout the employee lifecycle. As a People Business Partner, you will become a Subject Matter Expert in your partnered business units, using data and reporting to provide consultative advice to leadership, acting as an agent of change, coach, advocate, and critical voice. You will be responsible for building organizational and people capability, planning and managing talent, and developing departmental approaches to achieve organizational objectives and create high-performing business areas. You will champion a values-driven approach, helping to create a culture of belonging and develop talent for today and tomorrow.
Responsibilities
- Act as an agent of change, supporting and guiding business leaders and people managers with strong, generalist HR support to ensure compliance and an employee experience in line with our values.
- Support business areas in robustly managing performance and developing high-performing teams through continuous performance practices, including supporting ER cases and providing development opportunities for top talent.
- Act as a trusted advisor to employees and management to professionally and discreetly resolve employee relations issues.
- Lead people-related meetings such as grievance and disciplinary hearings, liaising with legal counsel when required to ensure compliance.
- Compile investigation, disciplinary, grievance, and flexible working request outcomes.
- Advocate for data-driven decision-making and utilize HRIS data for insights to support conversations and drive stakeholder decisions.
- Communicate, influence, and consult with stakeholders in an impactful manner, leading by example.
- Lead employee engagement and action planning with stakeholders.
- Support performance cycles, including participation rates and leading calibration sessions for assigned areas.
- Support the wider People Team in implementing people strategies that align with business aims.
- Assist business areas and Head of People Partnering with talent and organizational development as needed, including recruitment, secondments, and organization design.
- Demonstrate people experience in carrying out responsibilities, ensuring a values-led culture aligned with the behavioral framework.
- Collaborate with ESB colleagues to create alignment and strengthen partnerships, demonstrating the value of 'better together'.
Requirements
- Previous experience in an HR Business Partner or HR Manager role
- Strong HR generalist background
- Strong experience in leading complex employee relations issues
- Experience implementing initiatives to execute against a people strategy (e.g., employee engagement, salary review, performance management, remuneration annual processes)
- Change management experience
- Ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders across different functions and levels
- Project management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a team, collaborating with a center of excellence
- Strong knowledge of employment law and employee rights
- Expertise in data and analytics
- Proven record of developing strong relationships with stakeholders
- Proactive and adaptable to change
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
- Experience implementing HR policies and procedures

- CIPD Level 5 Qualified or above
