About the Role
As a Market Data Strategist, you will identify, source, and enhance the effectiveness of external datasets for Tower Research Capital's trading environment. This role focuses on exchange data and core market data, involving licensing, reporting, controls, and account management.
Responsibilities
- Work with global exchanges, index providers, and market data vendors to review and negotiate contracts, including commercials and usage rights.
- Monitor inbound exchange and vendor notifications to assess their impact on Tower and triage accordingly.
- Engage with internal stakeholders, including Trading and Engineering, to define and support new and existing use cases.
- Design and implement robust data strategies and governance policies aligned with business objectives.
- Identify key market trends, analyze competitor data, and guide decision-making.
- Manage exchange usage and reporting, audits, and compliance of market data.
Requirements
- Detailed knowledge of market data policies, focusing on unit of count and derived data.
- Solid understanding of market data pricing models and metrics, with the ability to provide alternative sourcing and contracting options.
- Familiarity with global vendor platforms, products, entitlement systems (e.g., VBD, BPIPE, EMRS, DACS), and inventory management systems (e.g., FITS, MDM).
- Experience managing market data audits from inception to completion.
- Proven self-starter capable of working independently and within a team, effectively managing multiple priorities.
- Strong strategic thinker and problem solver with attention to detail.
- Reliable and predictable partner for team members, senior staff, and external counterparties.
- Relevant experience at a top buy-side institution (hedge fund, prop trading firm).

- $120,000-$170,000 base salary, plus eligible for discretionary bonus
