About the Role
As a Hospital Liaison Volunteer, you'll support people during their hospital stay, helping them stay connected to treatment and recovery services. You'll offer encouragement, build confidence, and help individuals access the support they need as they prepare to leave hospital.
Responsibilities
- Visit and support individuals in hospital.
- Provide encouragement and emotional support.
- Help people engage with treatment and recovery services.
- Assist with discharge planning and follow-up support.
- Encourage the use of local recovery and community resources.
- Work alongside hospital staff and partner agencies.
- Help people identify goals and build confidence for recovery.
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to service improvement.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at an enhanced level.
Skills
- Strong communication and listening skills.
- Empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental approach.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Confidence working with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Passion for helping others achieve positive change.
