About the Role

The Enterprise Business Technology Office (BTO) at Freddie Mac enables business operational excellence through the flexible use of technology. This role provides IT development support across various organizations, assisting with daily operations, application development, and mentoring team members.

Responsibilities

  • Developing software solutions by studying organizational needs, conferring with users, studying systems flow, investigating problem areas, and following the software development lifecycle.
  • Following established methodology and controls guidelines, maintaining agility and quality throughout the development process.
  • Documenting technical design, interface specifications, and unit testing.
  • Participating in technical discussions and providing recommendations or solutions.
  • Demonstrating ownership of problems, issues, or requests from start to finish and facilitating appropriate handoffs.
  • Ensuring that best practices for development activities (e.g., code reviews, unit testing) are followed through the project life-cycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • 5+ years of Java experience in developing applications using Java/J2EE technologies, preferably in a Unix environment.
  • Excellent understanding of typical multi-tier architectures: web servers, caching, application servers, & load balancers.
  • Hands-on experience on multiple technologies such as: Java/J2EE & middleware (WebLogic, Apache, Spring Boot, etc.) technologies in UNIX environment and Scripting languages such as UNIX Shell.
  • Hands-on experience with build automation / CICD pipeline integration tools (Jenkins, GIT, Bitbucket, Artifactory, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with relational databases (Sybase, DB2, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL).
  • Hands-on experience with information and application security including LDAP, certificates, public key encryption, SSH, access credentials, etc.
  • Experience developing/maintaining applications using C/C++ technologies, preferably in a Unix environment is a nice to have.
