About the Role
This role is part of the Asia Pacific Procurement leadership team, leading the Japan Commercial Procurement team. The position focuses on defining and delivering priorities and local projects by leveraging regional and global scale. It also involves acting as a representative in local markets to ensure local needs are communicated to regional/global teams and maintaining strong relationships with the CFO, Country leadership, and business stakeholders. The role ensures effective coordination between local, regional, and global procurement teams.
Responsibilities
- Accountable for developing a strategic approach to corporate procurement and management of indirect goods and services to drive business centricity.
- Proactively lead and manage priorities such as collaboration with suppliers on Sustainability activities, Global Finance initiative implementation, and risk control to achieve sustainable business.
- Embed excellence in category management, including sourcing, cost/contract management, supplier collaboration, and innovation.
- Generate financial value in the Japan market through cost savings and cash generation.
- Accountable for supply assurance, risk, and governance within the portfolio.
- Lead, coach, and develop the ONEProcurement team in Japan, managing direct reports' performance.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance effectiveness and uplift the Japan team's capabilities.
- Develop strategic plans for focus categories based on local business needs and demand.
- Ensure Category Strategies align with current and future business needs, and the supply base can support these strategies.
- Deliver tangible value in sourcing, cost management, supplier relationship management, supplier development, and innovation.
- Manage governance through business partnering, ensuring commercial decisions align with overall business strategy.
- Conduct annual peer reviews of category, region, or market strategies with the Procurement Leadership Team.
- Manage highest standards of compliance and ethics across AstraZeneca, including end-to-end processes and policy governance.
- Lead the Sustainability Scope3 supplier engagement program locally, both externally and internally, towards the 2030 Ambition Zero Carbon goal.
