About the Role
The Underwriting Technical Assistant processes policy-related transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance. This role involves reviewing applications, endorsements, and cancellations, entering data, issuing policy documents, and assisting with underwriting tasks like risk assessment and premium calculation.
Responsibilities
- Review, clear, and process new business submissions accurately and within established service standards, ensuring data quality and completeness.
- Enter, verify, and maintain underwriting information in policy administration systems to support rating, documentation, issuance, and compliance requirements.
- Prepare, bind, issue, and maintain commercial insurance policies for both new and renewal business.
- Process policy transactions, including endorsements, cancellations, reinstatements, and other policy changes with a high degree of accuracy.
- Generate and distribute renewal solicitations, non-renewal notices, cancellation notices, and other policy-related correspondence in accordance with regulatory and company guidelines.
- Investigate and resolve policy booking, billing, accounting, and system discrepancies by collaborating with internal stakeholders.
- Partner with underwriters, brokers, and management to obtain required information and ensure timely and accurate policy processing.
- Deliver exceptional customer service to internal and external business partners by responding promptly to inquiries and requests.
- Produce routine, ad hoc, and management reports to support underwriting operations, business performance, and decision-making.
- Support departmental initiatives, audits, system enhancements, and special projects as needed.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiencies and contribute to continuous process improvement and workflow optimization efforts.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, underwriting guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum of one year of professional office experience required.
- Experience working with insurance systems, policy administration platforms, or other enterprise business applications preferred.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
- Exceptional attention to detail with a commitment to accuracy, data integrity, and quality assurance.
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while maintaining productivity and quality standards.
- Collaborative team player with a customer-focused mindset and a commitment to supporting team objectives.
- Adaptable and eager to learn in a fast-paced, evolving environment with changing business needs.
