About the Role
Lead a team of six experienced engineers in the Data Platform studio, focusing on event delivery and data pseudonymisation systems. This role involves setting technical direction, ensuring high-impact delivery, and investing in engineer growth.
Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of six experienced engineers, focusing on coaching, career development, and fostering a high-performance environment.
- Take accountability for team delivery, ensuring clear priorities, healthy execution, and measurable outcomes.
- Partner with product and stakeholders to shape the roadmap for event delivery and privacy infrastructure.
- Drive technical strategy and architectural decisions for large-scale systems.
- Build a culture of ownership, psychological safety, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate across Data Platform and the wider engineering organization to align on shared goals and dependencies.
- Manage on-call health, operational excellence, and reliability for the team's services.
- Actively participate in hiring, onboarding, and growing the team's capabilities.
Requirements
- Experience managing teams of senior/experienced engineers, with people leadership as a primary craft.
- Track record of investing in engineers' careers, including development conversations and progression clarity.
- Comfort with distributed data systems, event-driven architectures, or data infrastructure at scale.
- Ability to engage credibly in technical discussions and unblock the team.
- Accountability for outcomes, not just activity.
- Clear communication and trust-building across functions and time zones.
- Experience with distributed teams and creating cohesion and inclusion.
- Excitement about AI and LLMs transforming engineering workflows and data infrastructure.
