About the Role
An educator new to the classroom seeking to grow their practice in collaboration with a lead teacher, committed to fostering college success and civic engagement for scholars.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside a lead classroom teacher to ensure scholars enjoy a classroom culture of high academic and behavioral standards.
- Create an inclusive classroom and school community by engaging in training, reflection, and dialogue around issues of race and identity.
- Plan and prepare for effective implementation of a coherent, research-based curriculum in collaboration with the lead classroom teacher.
- Share whole-group teaching responsibilities with the lead teacher.
- Assist in the development and use of a variety of assessment data to refine curricula and instructional practice.
- Plan and facilitate differentiated learning activities through small group and one-on-one instruction to rapidly improve scholar data and mastery of content.
- Maintain strong relationships with scholars, families, and colleagues through effective and frequent communication.
- Supervise and assist scholars using the bathroom, including changing diapers and assisting with clothing changes after accidents.
- Continuously improve professional practice through weekly coaching sessions, professional development, and collaborative, data-driven reflection.
- Encourage the social and emotional health and growth of all scholars through active communication and partnership with the school's scholar support team.
- Foster a life of active citizenship for all scholars through age-appropriate conversations, community service, and celebration of scholars' culture and identity.
- Engage in whole-school events and tasks, including transitions, family conferences, tutoring, and other activities/duties.
