About the Role
Arcadis is seeking a General Superintendent/Assistant Resident Engineer with 5 or more years of experience to join our construction management team. This role will support the oversight and management of Arcadis’ on-site team for construction management services on a new boiler building project at a NYCHA development in Brooklyn, NY.
Responsibilities
- Assist with management of the firm’s day-to-day construction management services, including resident engineering and inspection.
- Oversee and manage the general contractor’s performance and progress, monitoring performance, schedule, responsiveness, and effectiveness.
- Exert influence to maintain project goals regarding cost, schedule, and quality.
- Assist with oversight and management of the general contractor’s efforts related to site safety, MPT, permit condition compliance, and coordination with other agencies.
- Assist with the contractor payment process and recommend adjustments.
- Engage in contractor planning and execution to foresee and resolve design/construction issues.
- Review contractor’s CPM schedule and other schedule documentation, providing comments, analysis, and deliverables.
- Manage and mentor inspection staff in monitoring contractor work, performance, quality, schedule, and safety.
- Ensure the delivery of daily inspector reports.
- Manage sub-consultants and review their monthly invoices.
- Use effective oral and written communication skills to lead meetings with client, contractor, local agencies, and the community.
- Assist with management and mentoring of field office staff for record keeping, correspondence, meeting minutes, report compilation, and tracking.
- Assist with the change order process, including preparation, estimation, and negotiation.
- Serve as a liaison to design staff to respond to RFIs, review shop drawings, and resolve issues.
- Provide technical review of construction plans and specifications for constructability and practicality.
- Assist with liaison with Program Management and NYCHA staff to communicate and resolve project issues.
- Assist with liaison with NYCHA’s Property Management, Heating Division, and Tenant’s Association to coordinate construction activities.
Requirements
- 5 years or more of experience with at least 2 years of General Superintendent/Assistant Resident Engineer experience specifically for NYC Metro Public agencies.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Construction or a related field of study.
