About the Role
SYSTRA Canada is seeking a Cable Containment Civil Specialist to join the new LRT Project in Ontario. This role involves developing and checking cable containment designs, supporting various project interfaces, and ensuring compliance with standards.
Responsibilities
- Developing and checking cable containment design and delivery.
- Supporting interfaces with Traction Power, Signaling, Communications, Civil/Structural, Trackwork, Stations/Architectural, and Utilities, ensuring physical and functional integration.
- Supporting the management of System Interfaces.
- Acting as the Lead checker of cable containment designs, drawings, and specifications.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant standards, codes, and project requirements (CSA, OESC).
- Reviewing contractor submissions including shop drawings, material approvals, method statements, and RFIs, providing timely technical responses and design clarifications.
- Attending project meetings and providing technical expertise.
- Participating in design reviews and hazard/interface workshops, providing containment input to support safe, buildable, and maintainable solutions.
- Identifying risks and proposing mitigation strategies.
- Maintaining project records and ensuring proper documentation.
- Providing technical support during construction and commissioning.
- Staying updated with latest communication technologies and best practices.
- Promoting process improvements and innovation within the team.
Requirements
- 10+ Years Experience in cable containment design.
- 2+ Years experience in Canadian Transit environment.
- Active modeling Experience with Civil3D.
- Working knowledge of relevant building codes in Ontario.
- Ability to work collaboratively with Intermediate and junior Engineers/Specialists, and other disciplines.
- Metrolinx experience is an asset.
