About the Role
This role manages and provides daily direction to associates in the Boat Service area, overseeing inventory control, service, warranty, rigging, delivery, detail, and parts activities.
Responsibilities
- Supports the Boat Manager in achieving financial goals for the Service area, including sales, gross margin, inventory shrinkage, and payroll.
- Provides daily supervision and direction to Service Department associates.
- Schedules and assigns service, rigging, and warranty work orders, ensuring timely completion to customer satisfaction.
- Maintains and strives to increase associate productivity.
- Maintains a safe, clean, and secure work environment.
- Supports world-class customer service and ensures a pleasant shopping experience.
- Assists the Boat Manager in staffing the Service area with customer-oriented associates, participating in interviews, recommending selections, coordinating training, and providing input on performance appraisals.
- Prepares weekly work schedules and coaches associates to promote positive customer relations and a productive team environment.
- Resolves customer and associate opportunities with the Boat Manager.
- Assists the Boat Manager with coordinating special events, including Boat Shows and promotional activities.
- Manages and ensures accuracy of unit and parts inventories.
- Ensures timely creation, submission, and payment of warranty claims.
- Ensures products are properly detailed and unit deliveries are conducted professionally and on schedule.
- Assists the Boat Manager in executing supervisory responsibilities, including interviewing, training, planning, assigning work, evaluating performance, addressing complaints, and maintaining a harassment-free environment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2-4 years in Retail Boating or similar industry.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions, and percentages.
- Ability to read and analyze certain reports.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from Managers, associates, customers, and the public.
- Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups.
- Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data based management, and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems.
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, associates, customers, and Corporate Staff.
- Regularly performs computer work, walks and stands.
- Occasionally sits and lifts up to 50lbs.
- Performs duties within scope of general company policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Analyzes problems and performs needs assessments.
- Uses judgment in adapting broad guidelines to achieve desired results.
- Regular exercise of independent judgment within accepted practices.
- Makes recommendations that affect policies, procedures, and practices.
