About the Role
As Associate Director of Logistics for the UK and Ireland, you will lead the end-to-end Logistics function, with overall responsibility for team leadership, P&L management, and operational performance. You will drive efficiency, service excellence, cost optimization, and strategic execution across the logistics network, ensuring the delivery of business objectives and customer expectations throughout the two countries. You will be a part of the UK&IE SMT team and be the senior logistics POC representing your markets globally, reporting directly to the European Logistics Director.
Responsibilities
- Own senior-level relationships with 3PLs, focusing on providing a best-in-class delivery experience.
- Optimize carrier mix for cost and service trade-offs.
- Measure and drive improvements across core logistic metrics (e.g., OTD, Cost per order, Labour minutes per box).
- Drive strategic crisis management and risk mitigation projects.
- Lead and motivate a team, exemplifying company DNA.
- Own and improve engagement scores to make the Logistics department a great place to work.
- Prioritize and communicate effectively to align team goals.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with local teams and global counterparts.
- Manage the full UK and Ireland Logistics P&L, including 3PLs, middle & final mile transport, and overheads.
- Manage contracts, reducing delivery costs through supplier negotiations and initiatives.
- Partner with the finance team to meet budget expectations.
- Develop long-term solutions to reduce delivery errors with suppliers and internal teams, using data to measure effectiveness.
- Evaluate new partner opportunities, including selection and onboarding of new carriers.
- Analyze customer feedback (NPS, Trustpilot) to identify improvement areas and set initiatives.
- Partner with global tech and data teams to ensure local teams have the right tools, focusing on AI and automation.
- Drive and own the logistics strategy, curating yearly OKRs in collaboration with the business plan, focusing on execution.
Requirements
- At least 5+ years of experience working with or for national B2C carriers.
- Contract management experience negotiating terms and conditions with third parties.
- P&L ownership with demonstrable experience of cost savings in challenging environments.
- Expertise in UK final mile delivery networks.
- Demonstrable track record of improving courier final mile performance using data.
- Attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
- Excellent leadership and people management experience with evidence of building engaged teams.
- Proven track record of curating strategic initiatives (short and long term).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach.
- Understanding of Logistics tech systems (e.g., TMS) to engage with technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with data analysis tools (Google suite, SQL, Power BI, AI).
- Experience working with perishable products and their specific final mile processes (desirable).
- Industry relationships within UK final mile carriers and tech providers (desirable).
- Independent right to work in the UK; sponsorship is not provided.
- Cooperate with the company in all health and safety matters.
