About the Role

St. Clare of Assisi–St. Francis Xavier School is seeking an Early Childhood Program Director to serve as the Instructional Leader for their early childhood program. This role involves setting high expectations, ensuring program compliance, and leading staff in providing high-quality education and support for young children and their families.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the Instructional Leader for the early childhood program.
• Collaborate with the school principal to establish and maintain high expectations for school culture, professionalism, responsiveness, and instruction.
• Act as the primary liaison with the Archdiocese Office of Early Childhood and the NYC Division of Early Childhood Education.
• Ensure program adherence to NYC PKFA/3K policies and procedures.
• Oversee the effective implementation of the Creative Curriculum.
• Ensure the implementation of Positive Behavior Guidance according to PFKA/3K guidelines.
• Train, support, and supervise staff to meet the diverse needs of children and families.
• Conduct daily walk-throughs, model best practices, and provide formative feedback to staff.
• Maintain regular communication with families and lead family educational engagement opportunities.
• Meet regularly with the Principal to discuss program updates and align early childhood initiatives with K-8 programs.
• Lead staff and families in developing individual student support plans.
• Facilitate Common Planning sessions and professional development meetings for staff.
• Collaborate with the school principal in evaluating staff performance.
• Work with administrative and instructional staff to ensure compliance with NYC Department of Health Article 43 mandates.
• Utilize student and program assessment data to guide staff in meeting student needs.
• Manage and assist administrative staff with the timely completion of all PKFA/3KFA-related paperwork.

Requirements

• Master of Education in Early Childhood, Early Childhood Special Education, or a related field.
• Current New York State Teaching Certification in Early Childhood or Childhood Teaching.
• Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a teacher or school leader, including classroom experience.
• At least 3 years of experience as a lead teacher in an Early Childhood classroom.
• Experience working successfully in an inclusive and diverse work environment.
• Proficiency in technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and educational communication platforms.
• First Aid, Medication Administration Training, CPR, and Mandated Reporter certification must be completed upon hiring.
• Clearance in the NYC PETS upon hiring.

Skills

• Successful teaching and leadership experience as an early childhood educator.
• Familiarity with NYC Department of Education PKFA/3KFA policies and procedures.
• Understanding of developmental, cultural, and linguistic diversity in early childhood education.
• High expectations for instruction and social-emotional support.
• Ability to lead and coach early childhood staff using research-based best practices.
• Commitment to leading staff in providing family engagement support and resources.
• Excellent interpersonal, leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Proficiency in written and oral Spanish (preferred).
