About the Role

The D.A. Collins Family of Companies is seeking a reliable Asphalt Roller Operator to join their dedicated team in Wilton, NY. This role offers an opportunity for career growth within a company that has prioritized safety, quality, and productivity for over 75 years.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of tasks including lifting heavy objects, standing for extended periods, stretching, walking, climbing, and bending under potentially adverse field conditions.
• Perform visual tasks such as backup spotting and react to backup alarms per safety protocol.
• Perform asphalt paving in accordance with DOT and local commercial specifications.
• Partner with crew members to pave roadways utilizing roller equipment.
• Perform additional tasks of other positions as instructed by supervisors to ensure daily schedule and estimates are met.
• Follow company policies and OSHA/DOT regulations for safe working procedures and environment.
• Be flexible with last-minute schedule, location, and shift time changes.
• Work along interstates and thruways.
• Withstand common vibratory motion associated with roller equipment operation and sometimes rough terrain.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• 5 years of experience in civil heavy highway construction.
• 2 years of experience operating a roller or similar equipment.
• Familiarity with State of NY and VT specifications, heavy highway construction, and paving.
• Ability to travel as needed, including night and weekend work.
• Ability to adapt to and work in extreme weather conditions.
• Must be able to pass a pre-employment substance abuse screening.
• Must be able to pass a pre-hire drug screen.
