About the Role

The Module Leader and Lecturer will provide academic leadership and high-quality teaching across the MSc Project Planning and Management provision. The postholder will lead and teach modules across the programme, contribute to curriculum enhancement, support student achievement and ensure that module delivery is engaging, inclusive, professionally relevant and aligned with awarding body expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate module delivery across one or more MSc Project Planning and Management modules to ensure a consistent, high-quality learning and assessment experience.
  • Develop, review and update module teaching materials, assessment guidance and learning resources in line with programme and awarding body requirements.
  • Provide module leadership, including planning delivery, maintaining module documentation and supporting quality assurance and enhancement processes.
  • Design and implement blended and technology-enhanced learning activities appropriate to postgraduate students.
  • Ensure alignment between teaching, learning outcomes and assessment requirements.
  • Organise and contribute to internal moderation, standardisation and module review activity.
  • Teach lectures, seminars, workshops and tutorials using interactive, student-centred and professionally focused approaches.
  • Deliver high-quality teaching in areas such as project design, financial planning, sustainability, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, project governance, risk and research methods, depending on subject expertise and programme need.
  • Contribute to the delivery of the Professional Excellence Accelerator (PEA), supporting postgraduate transition, academic writing, analytical capability, digital fluency, employability and dissertation readiness.
  • Provide academic guidance and support to students, including dissertation or research project preparation where appropriate.
  • Monitor and report on student progress, attendance and engagement, and contribute to interventions where concerns arise.
  • Assess students through formative and summative assessment, providing timely, constructive and academically rigorous feedback.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure all activity is compliant with institutional policies, GDPR and academic regulations.
  • Engage in continuing professional development relevant to higher education, inclusive teaching and the project planning and management discipline.
  • Remain sensitive to the needs of students from diverse educational, professional and cultural backgrounds, including international students.
  • Attend and contribute to programme meetings, boards, moderation, training and other academic activities as required.
  • Teach and support postgraduate learning across modules relating to project planning, finance, sustainability, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, governance and research-informed practice.
  • Use case studies, applied tasks and professional examples to connect theory with contemporary project environments.
  • Support students to develop analytical, quantitative, evaluative and professional communication skills relevant to project-based roles.
  • Contribute to dissertation and research project readiness by supporting topic development, critical reading, structured analysis and academic integrity.
  • Support the shared PEA framework through activities relating to transition, critical reading, data interpretation, responsible AI use, professional writing, collaboration, employability and portfolio development.

Requirements

  • Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
  • Willingness to undergo a DBS check or overseas equivalent.
  • Good Honours and Master’s degrees in Project Management, Development Studies, Business, Management, Economics, Sustainability, Finance or a cognate subject.
  • For dissertation/research project supervision, a relevant postgraduate qualification and appropriate academic or professional experience.
  • Experience of teaching in higher education, ideally at postgraduate level.
  • Experience of teaching one or more areas relevant to project planning and management, such as project design, finance, sustainability, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, governance, risk or research methods.
  • Experience of supporting students from diverse educational and cultural backgrounds, including international students.
  • Experience of designing teaching materials, learning activities and assessments.
  • Experience of using Moodle or another VLE to support teaching and student engagement.
  • Ability to teach and support postgraduate students effectively.
  • Ability to translate theory into applied, professionally relevant learning activities.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and contribute to programme development.
