About the Role
Join our Strategic Communications team to deliver communications programs for international clients, focusing on media relations, writing, and client account management. Opportunities exist to contribute to broader marketing activities and firm-wide initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day media outreach, including building media lists, pitching stories, and securing coverage.
- Draft press releases, media pitches, statements, briefing notes, Q&As, and opinion pieces.
- Monitor the news agenda and identify timely opportunities for clients.
- Support integrated campaigns, content, and events.
- Act as a day-to-day client contact, providing updates and managing deadlines.
- Develop a strong understanding of client businesses, sectors, and communications priorities.
- Support crisis and issues communications, including rapid-response drafting and media monitoring.
- Track coverage, sentiment, share of voice, and competitor activity, providing client reporting.
- Support account planning, campaign development, and spokesperson preparation.
- Translate complex issues into clear and compelling communications.
- Contribute to the firm's media relations, thought leadership, and event communications.
Requirements
- A track record of independently pitching journalists and securing coverage in national, business, technology, or specialist trade media.
- Strong news judgment and an understanding of what makes a story relevant to journalists.
- Excellent writing skills, with the ability to produce engaging copy under pressure and adapt style for different audiences.
- Confidence to communicate directly with clients and journalists.
- Strong AI literacy, including thoughtful and effective use of AI tools with sound judgment on accuracy, quality, confidentiality, and appropriate use.
- Ability to manage workflow across multiple client accounts and balance competing priorities.
- Proactive and collaborative approach, with the confidence to take ownership of tasks.
- Genuine interest in frontier technology and emerging sectors.
- Appetite to learn, take on responsibility, and develop towards an account-management and advisory role.
- Two to four years’ experience in a PR agency, in-house communications team, or newsroom with demonstrable media-relations experience.
- Previous agency experience.
- Existing relationships with UK or European technology, business, or trade journalists.
- Exposure to crisis or issues communications.
- Experience supporting international clients or coordinating activity across different markets.
- Experience using media-monitoring tools and translating results into client reporting.
- A second language, particularly one relevant to European, Southeast Asian, or Middle Eastern markets.
