About the Role
The Cargo Operations and Planning Manager is accountable for executing the Premia operational plan by providing clear direction, proactive decision-making, and effective communication to a large team within a unique, semi-automated warehouse. This role requires managing high-quality operational performance while utilizing new systems and data to oversee and adjust the automated elements of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on Premia operations' health.
- Track and optimize operational performance and systems.
- Drive effective communication with internal and external departments.
- Provide guidance to a team of direct reports.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement business changes.
- Drive process improvements and devise innovative planning strategies.
- Lead circa 75 warehouse, data, and retail colleagues.
- Produce a shift-by-shift operational plan using data sources and workflow principles.
- Act as a subject matter expert for the semi-automated warehouse operations.
- Manage and optimize the warehouse management system and mechanical handling system.
- Lead local industrial relations discussions with trade unions.
- Lead, manage, and coach a team to meet productivity and performance targets while ensuring safety and security.
- Provide on-shift direction and management through effective communication and briefings.
- Analyze and interpret complex situations to effectively deliver the operational plan.
- Act as the accountable manager for Premia’s operational performance when communicating internally and with external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with service partners to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
- Own Business Contingency Plans and Local Operating Procedures for Premia.
- Implement plans to mitigate operational risk.
- Support and take accountability for the delivery of strategic projects.
- Support and drive the culture of continuous improvement through lean techniques and leadership.
- Manage performance and people policies for a team of direct reports.
Requirements
- Educated to degree level or relevant working experience.
- Demonstrated experience in people management, including the ability to motivate, coach, and develop teams effectively.
- Proficiency in using warehouse management systems or creating logistic delivery plans.
