About the Role

This role involves providing advice, assessments, brief and structured interventions, and group programmes for individuals affected by drug and alcohol issues. As the initial contact for referrals, you will conduct assessments, offer advice, manage harm reduction, conduct risk assessments, and make onward referrals. You will also manage a caseload and collaborate with service users, families, and external agencies to maximize outcomes.

Responsibilities

Offer relevant and appropriate advice, harm minimisation, and family interventions.
Perform risk assessment and management.
Action onward referrals to partner agencies.

Collaborate and work professionally with service users, families, and external agencies.

Requirements

Understanding of substance use and associated health and social issues.
Experience of working in an addictions or social care setting.
Qualification in health/social care, youth and community work (e.g. NVQ Level 3 or above, DipSW, Mental Health Nursing, Counselling, Addiction Studies) OR experience of working in the substance misuse field with a commitment to complete NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care.
Good knowledge of alcohol/drug and health-related issues.
Experience liaising with voluntary and statutory agencies and health professionals.
Comfortable engaging with clients in a variety of service delivery settings.
Flexible approach.
Commitment to the principles of confidentiality.
Excellent record keeping and Microsoft Office skills.
Ability to collaborate and work professionally with service users, families, and external agencies.
