About the Role

Lead the projects of Data4Life's Impact Program, a flagship partnership initiative focused on advancing real-world evidence generation in healthcare. This role involves translating research ambition into software that generates real impact, working closely with scientific, engineering, and product teams, as well as international partners.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end delivery of the Impact Program portfolio, from call design coordination and applicant selection through project kickoff, execution, and dissemination.
• Drive cross-functional delivery for each funded project across software engineering, design, the Scientific Evidence Group, and partners, aligning Scrum and Kanban with research timelines.
• Translate project learnings into platform evolution for Data2Evidence and D4L Collect roadmaps.
• Partner with awardees to refine study protocols, scope analyses, navigate infrastructure, and publish findings.
• Coordinate with the Scientific Evidence Group on protocol refinement, analysis feedback, and manuscript contributions.
• Own the program's operating model, including planning, risk tracking, and reporting cadences.
• Communicate progress and impact to funders, clinicians, researchers, and the public.
• Mature the Impact Program across successive calls by refining selection criteria and the support model.

Requirements

• 4+ years of project or program management experience, with at least 2 years managing scientific, research, or academic projects.
• Hands-on experience coordinating projects in a software development context.
• Demonstrated experience working with academic researchers, including navigation of IRB/ethics approval processes and study protocol refinement.
• Experience managing projects across time zones, cultures, and organization types.
• Working knowledge of managing sensitive patient and research data under GDPR.
• Scientific literacy in health-adjacent domains.
• Familiarity with open science practices.
• Mastery of Scrum or Kanban, with flexibility to interface with milestone-driven timelines.
• Strong leadership and mentoring skills in a multidisciplinary, multi-stakeholder research environment.
• A Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Public Health, Biomedical Engineering, Health Informatics, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• Fluent in English.
• German at B2 level is a plus.
• A third language is a plus.
• A Master's degree, PhD, or MD in a relevant field is a plus.
• PMP, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), or related project management certification is a plus.
• Working understanding of real-world evidence concepts and standards, the OMOP Common Data Model and OHDSI tooling, HL7 FHIR, and CDISC is a plus.
• Prior experience running a grants program, research network, or foundation-funded research portfolio is a plus.
• Personal scientific output (publications, datasets, conference contributions) is a plus.
• Ability to regularly be present in the Potsdam and/or Berlin office.
