About the Role

Join Transport for London (TfL) Engineers in our Operating Assets teams, where you will maintain legacy assets and deliver new systems and solutions. This role is crucial for connecting communities and creating opportunities to move London forward safely, inclusively, and sustainably.

Responsibilities

• Develop safe, cost-effective electronic equipment engineering solutions across the organisation.
• Provide technical support to operations and projects requiring specialist electronics expertise.
• Support legacy rolling stock and signalling systems used on London Underground.
• Design bespoke test equipment for legacy assets.
• Diagnose faults on complex electronic systems, occasionally without design documentation.
• Design and build bespoke test equipment to test legacy electronic systems and assets.
• Deliver projects through the complete life cycle, from concept to operational service.
• Share electronics knowledge and guide other engineers on system design, build, and implementation.
• Conduct reactive repair, reverse engineering, and failure investigation.
• Design and approval of new systems.

Requirements

• Strong technical knowledge and understanding of modern and legacy system design with emphasis on analogue electronics.
• Good understanding of electronic components, their use, and failure modes.
• Good understanding of electronics design in safety critical applications.
• Proven experience of design and maintenance of complex electronics and electrical systems.
• Basic knowledge of rolling stock and signalling system safety concepts, and the practical methods required to maintain system safety.
• Satisfactory right-to-work checks.
• Ability to demonstrate right to work in the UK.
