About the Role
ispace is looking for a Thermal Engineer to join our growing mechanical design team. We are expanding our business and seeking a Thermal Engineer to lead thermal design and analysis for spacecraft. With multiple lunar landing missions underway, we are strengthening our technical team and looking for someone with expertise in spacecraft thermal design at a Mid-Senior level.
Responsibilities
- Support thermal design efforts for spacecraft systems such as landers and satellites.
- Perform thermal analysis to design thermal components for spacecraft systems.
- Support design specifications and Design Reviews.
- Support design trade-off studies, material selection, manufacturing processes, and design verification.
- Create test plans and reports, analyze test data, and support the design of jigs for component/system testing.
- Support the construction of thermal models, execute thermal analysis, and predict temperatures for engineering and flight models.
- Detailed design and support of spacecraft systems for thermal and operational performance.
- Detailed design and support of Lander systems for thermal and operational performance.
- Support testing, including rapid prototyping, hardware assembly, build operations, and transport to test sites.
- Report to team leaders and group managers.
- Maintain proactive coordination between teams, balancing and achieving project goals.
Requirements
- Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
- Over 3 years of experience in design for aerospace or aviation applications.
- Knowledge of thermal design and analysis for satellites or spacecraft.
- Proficiency in Thermal Desktop for thermal analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt to change and learn new things at speed.
- Proactive attitude, team player, with a strong sense of responsibility for one's work.
- Business level Japanese or English (able to communicate internally and with vendors).
