About the Role

Reporting to the Permanence & Post Order Advanced Practitioner/Team manager, this role involves holding a caseload of assessments and/or support cases within the Permanence and Post Order Support Team. Key responsibilities include completing necessary assessments to a high standard within court timelines, safeguarding children and young people, and ensuring practice aligns with legislation and guidance. The role also requires attending Practice Support Group, providing professional advice, and maintaining accurate case records.

Responsibilities

  • Exemplify expert and best practice in relation to assessment and/or support cases of varying complexity.
  • Ensure relevant assessments (Viability/Connected Person/SGO) are completed to a high standard and within required timescales.
  • Ensure assessments accurately identify needs and vary in complexity.
  • Ensure practice complies with relevant legislation, regulations, and practice standards.
  • Effectively manage/mitigate risks of varying complexity.
  • Provide professional advice and other case-related guidance to team members.
  • Regularly attend and contribute to Practice Support Group.
  • Hold a caseload including kinship assessments and delivery of support services to Kinship carers.
  • Carry out all duties with an awareness and understanding of safeguarding requirements within the area of responsibility.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of relevant theories/models and incorporate these into professional practice, PSG discussion, and case-related guidance to others.
  • Demonstrate critical knowledge of the range of social work-related theories and models in professional practice and case-related guidance (including PSG) to social workers and other professionals.
  • Maintain accurate case-related records.

Requirements

  • Professional registration with the relevant body (Social Work England).
  • Experience of completing assessments.
  • Knowledge of Fostering/Connected carers and Special Guardianship area.
  • Satisfactory employment references and CIFAS identity checks.
  • Satisfactory declaration of interest.
  • Satisfactory DBS check.
  • Continued professional body registration.
  • Ability to speak fluent English with confidence and accuracy, sufficient for the effective performance of the role.

  • Retention Bonus/ Market Supplement: £2000 per year in two instalments of £1000
