Responsibilities

  • Work closely with senior team members to develop project-specific sustainability strategies and recommendations.
  • Support senior team members on a variety of projects including LEED, BOMA, Zero Carbon and Municipal building standards providing coordination, documentation and green building strategies.
  • Support senior team members on climate resiliency projects including LEED resiliency credits, climate risk and vulnerability assessments and other projects pursuing climate adaptation and resiliency.
  • Review and interpret architectural, mechanical and electrical design drawings.
  • Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas and document meeting minutes.
  • Support workshops, presentations and training sessions.
  • Assist with development of technical guidance documents and internal resources.
  • Assist in greenhouse gas inventories and carbon accounting.
  • Conducting Energy and Water Audits; from walkthrough to final reporting.
  • Perform benchmarking using portfolio manager and other building performance platforms.
  • Support development of decarbonization roadmaps and net-zero strategies.
  • Completing whole-building Life Cycle Assessments.
  • Assist with renewable energy feasibility studies, including solar assessments.
  • Coordinate and support certification projects including LEED, BOMA BEST, WELL, CaGBC Zero Carbon-Design/Performance, Fitwell, etc.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors and building owners/facility managers to obtain project information and documentation.
  • Collect, review and organize documentation required for certification and submissions.
  • Prepare certification applications and respond to review comments.

Requirements

  • Degree or Certificate in environmental science, sustainability, building science, planning, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in the sustainability consulting, green buildings, engineering architecture, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to coordinate on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Understanding of sustainability concepts and their practical application in the built environment.
  • Knowledge of LEED, WELL, BOMA BEST and zero carbon building certification programs.
  • Experience with Net Zero buildings and/or CaGBC Zero Carbon Buildings, is an asset.
  • Experience using Athena Impact Estimator for Buildings, or equivalent LCA software.
  • Basic understanding of building mechanical and electrical systems.
  • LEED Green Associate (GA) designation
  • LEED Accredited Profession (AP) with specialty, WELL AP, Fitwel, Ambassador or Energy Manager in Training/ Certified Energy Manager is an asset .
  • Familiarity with energy modelling software such as eQuest, EE4, or equivalent is considered an asset.
  • Applicants must be eligible to work in Canada.
