About the Role
Lead government affairs, policy, and advocacy efforts across the Europe and International region, focusing on Brussels, EUR5 markets, Canada, and Japan. Develop and execute regional and global market shaping campaigns, engage with key stakeholders, and ensure HIV remains a priority in healthcare systems.
Responsibilities
- Proactively collaborate with the GAPA team to evolve strategy, develop policy positions, and support brand plans.
- Update the team and business on key external developments, offering counsel on implications and business recommendations.
- Map stakeholders and build relationships with EU officials, politicians, policy makers, advocacy organizations, community groups, and think tanks.
- Develop and deliver impactful market shaping campaigns to support HIV prioritization and uptake of ViiV's long-acting innovations.
- Serve as the main point of contact for government affairs and policy teams in European and International markets, co-creating strategies and defining outcomes.
- Foster cross-functional relationships and develop joint internal and external initiatives with Communications, Positive Action, Patient Engagement and Access, and GSK counterparts.
- Directly line manage one Manager and support/coach others across the team and wider functions.
Requirements
- Proactive, energetic, collaborative, creative, commercially savvy, and strategic.
- Proven track record of navigating complex political environments across geographies.
- Experience achieving policy outcomes that support business objectives.
- Experience building strong, meaningful relationships and coalitions internally and externally.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, International Relations, Political Science, Economics, Public Health, Life Sciences, Law or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in government affairs, policy, and advocacy within the life sciences sector, including in-house experience.
- Proven experience building and maintaining strong, constructive relationships with senior government officials, policy makers, and advocacy organizations across multiple markets (notably EUR5, especially the UK) and in Brussels.
- Demonstrable experience running and contributing to impactful pan-European/cross-market initiatives and campaigns to drive policy change.
- Cross-functional working experience, particularly with communications, market access, and patient engagement.
- First-class written and oral presentation skills.
