About the Role
Provide critical support for the Core Trading Technology Ultra Low Latency and Electronic and Algorithmic Trading team, ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of real-time trading systems. Engage directly with Traders, Development teams, and other production engineering teams to optimize trading workflows, troubleshoot complex issues, and drive continuous improvement. This role is ideal for a problem solver who can thrive under pressure, balancing technical ability with business acumen and communicating effectively with trading desks.
Responsibilities
- Respond rapidly to production incidents with data-driven decision making, minimizing downtime and financial impact.
- Lead root cause analysis and conduct blameless post-mortems.
- Enhance application health monitoring and implement automation to reduce manual intervention and improve system resilience.
- Provide clear, timely updates to business stakeholders and senior technologists during incidents and follow-ups.
- Partner with development teams to design and deploy fault-tolerant, scalable solutions aligned with business goals.
- Enforce and adhere to change, incident, and problem management policies, as well as bank-specific non-financial risk frameworks.
- Support the growth of junior team members and promote a culture of engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
- Ensure applications are maintained and monitored to provide a stable environment for all users.
- Help foster an engineering culture that seeks to automate and reduce manual effort to reduce risk and costs.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a production support, SRE, or DevOps role within a trading or financial services environment.
- Knowledge of the Fixed Income product set, related market events, market data feeds, and an understanding of the trading lifecycle (order routing, execution, and settlement).
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical subject (Computer Sciences or Math or Statistics or similar) or equivalent experience.
- Strong technical skills in Linux/Unix systems, SQL, Scripting, understanding of Oracle databases, FIX (Financial Information Exchange).
- Strong experience with a programming language such as Python, Java, etc.
- Strong experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Geneos, OpenTelemetry, Corvil).
- Familiarity with cloud platforms, containerization (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker), and CI (Continuous Integration)/CD (Continuous Delivery) pipelines.
