About the Role
Shape the data platform for a large, established UK organisation undergoing a major transformation in a regulated, high-scale environment. Own the target architecture for a move from Oracle to Snowflake and set the direction for other engineers.
Responsibilities
- Design the target data architecture, including lakehouse and warehouse patterns, modelling standards, and data flow across the platform.
- Own the migration strategy from Oracle to Snowflake, including sequencing, risk, and coexistence of legacy and new systems.
- Set modelling conventions and govern the wider data team's work.
- Collaborate with engineering leads and stakeholders to ensure designs are practical and deliverable.
Requirements
- Strong track record architecting data platforms at scale, with a focus on Snowflake.
- Deep experience with lakehouse and warehouse design and dimensional modelling.
- Hands-on experience planning and executing Oracle to Snowflake migrations.
- Experience working in a regulated environment with a focus on lineage and governance.
- Ability to design for teams using AI-assisted engineering and comfort using AI tooling.
- Bonus points for dbt, AWS, and experience in financial services or asset finance.
