About the Role

HOLOEYE Photonics is a leading provider of spatial light modulators based on liquid crystal microdisplays and diffractive optical elements for scientific and industrial applications. Our development, engineering, and technical sales teams are located in Berlin-Adlershof. Our international team of 40 employees supports research institutions and industrial customers worldwide with static diffractive micro-optics and adaptive spatial light modulators. HOLOEYE offers both standard components and customized solutions according to customer requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Work on the design and simulation of optical micro- and nanostructures for optical elements with dedicated functions (e.g., diffractive optical elements).
  • Assist in generating data for the manufacturing of micro- and nano-optical structures.
  • Analyze test results from optical or surface characterizations to derive optimal process parameters for manufacturing processes in the first and subsequent iterations.
  • Develop own designs and review their performance after manufacturing for optimization possibilities within the first 3-6 months.
  • Coordinate with customers, attend trade fairs and scientific conferences, and represent HOLOEYE.
  • Contribute to the qualification of manufacturing processes for micro- and nano-optical structures, e.g., laser or electron beam lithography, reactive plasma etching, nanoimprint, and replication.
  • Perform optical measurements for the characterization of optical micro- and nanostructures.

Requirements

  • University (or University of Applied Sciences) degree with a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) degree.
  • Solid understanding of optical principles and ideally knowledge in two to three of the following areas: Fourier optics, diffraction and wave-optical propagation, lithography, laser technology, optical systems, or numerical diffraction simulations (e.g., RCWA, FDTD).
  • Programming skills in at least one of the following languages: Python, C++, Matlab.
  • High analytical skills to link simulation and experimental results and draw necessary conclusions for further optimizations.
  • Ability for systematic, self-organized work, as well as being team-oriented and able to handle changing requirements.
  • Fluent English (C2) and solid German (B2/C1) language skills.
  • Intrinsic motivation and solution-oriented mindset.
