About the Role

You're a super IC in a small, elite engineering team working on core banking systems, owning projects end to end. You will turn complex financial problems into clean code and be trusted with significant technical decisions from day one. The role involves building the banking core across bare metal central bank and blockchain infrastructure, focusing on precision engineering for a highly reliable and scalable system.

Responsibilities

Own projects end to end.

Build the banking core across bare metal central bank infrastructure and blockchain infrastructure.
Perform precision engineering to translate a complex system into simple and clean code.
Ensure code runs in a highly reliable way at scale.
Understand the codebase and increase ownership rapidly.
Ship meaningful code in the first weeks.
Pick up a major project as an IC and start driving it.
Ship your first big project end to end.
Push back on product decisions when something doesn't make sense.
Influence technical direction.
Scope and drive projects autonomously.
Act on strong opinions on how core banking systems should evolve.
Help junior engineers with clean code and clear thinking.

Requirements

5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience (backend-focused).
3+ years in early-stage or small startup environments.
Based in Berlin or ready to relocate.
Your former teammates would put you in the top 5% of engineers they've worked with.
Your code is clean, correct, and easy to delete.
You ship and iterate rather than wait for perfection.
You want to build core banking systems that handle real money.
You care about simplicity more than cleverness.
You'd rather own a problem end to end than wait for someone to hand you a spec.
You want to work alongside people who are genuinely great at what they do.
You don't think that a new fancy pattern or architecture principle will solve all your problems.
